About Silai
Silai (सिलाई) means stitching. We connect you directly with independent tailor shops, with your phone camera as the measuring tape.
Silai is two racks in one place. The main marketplace is where independent tailor shops take custom orders for blouses, kurtas, lehengas, salwar suits, sarees and gowns, each one cut to the customer's own measurements. Pre-Loved is our second-hand rack, where custom-made outfits find their second act: every listing carries the measurements it was stitched for, so you can see whether a piece fits you before you ever message the seller.
The thread holding it together is the naap. You record a short video with your phone and Silai estimates your full set of body measurements in about a minute, no tape, no fittings, no guessing sizes. Tailors receive exact numbers from customers they have never met; buyers see a fit score on second-hand pieces instead of gambling on "size M".
The order belongs to the tailor. Silai charges no commission and handles no payments. Customers and tailors talk directly, agree price, fabric, timeline and delivery between themselves, and the tailor keeps 100% of every order. The website is supported by advertising, which keeps it free for everyone on it.
Good work deserves reach. A tailor with two decades of skill should not lose orders because a customer moved cities or countries. Every shop gets a share link and QR code that turns their existing Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp ads into measured orders.
Clothes deserve second acts. Custom outfits are made too well to be worn once. Pre-Loved gives them a rack where the next owner knows they will fit.
The scan runs on computer vision models that estimate body shape from a short video. Measurements land within about 2% of a tape measure on average, and your bra band size can calibrate them further. The video frames are deleted automatically after processing; only the measurements remain, and they are shared only with a tailor or seller you choose to contact. Silai is built and operated by Silai Arts Inc., a Canadian company, and made for the desi community everywhere: India first, and the diaspora from Brampton to Birmingham. Tailors, sellers and customers can join from any country.
